How to Create a Task Template

Applies to CoCoCo platform v1.0.0-rc.31. Every step below was run on that version.

A task template describes a kind of task and the outcomes it can end with — for example a proof approval that ends with Approve or Send back. When you create a task from the template, those outcomes are what the person doing the task chooses from when they finish it.

Before you start: you need the permissions to see and create task templates (taskDefinition:list and taskDefinition:write); deleting needs taskDefinition:delete.

  1. In the sidebar, under Business Hub, click Task Templates.
  2. Click Add Task Template. The page New Task Template opens.
  3. Enter a Name, for example Proof approval. Description is optional.
  4. Under Options, fill in the first row: Label is what people see, for example Approve; Value is what is stored, for example approved.
  5. For every further outcome, click Add Option and fill in Label and Value again — for example Send back / needs_changes. Every option needs both fields. As soon as there are two or more rows, each has a bin — click it to remove that row.
  6. Click Save. The message Task Template created appears.

When you now create a task under Tasks → Add Task, the template is offered under Task Template, and the form notes that the outcome options come from the template.

In Task Templates, click the bin (Delete) next to the template and confirm Delete Task Template? with Delete.
