Work Center Types Explained
Applies to CoCoCo platform v1.0.0-rc.31. What this article describes was checked on that version.
Every work center has a Resource Type. It says what kind of resource the work center stands for. There are four:
| Type | Stands for |
|---|---|
| Machine | Equipment that does the work itself — a press, a folder, a cutter. New work centers start as Machine. |
| Human | A person rather than equipment. |
| Tool | A reusable piece of tooling — a die, a plate, a jig — booked as a resource in its own right, not as part of the machine that uses it. |
| Location | A place — a bay, a staging area, a storage position — modelled as a work center so that time on it can be booked. |
Where you see and set the type
Section titled “Where you see and set the type”- You choose the type under Resource Type when you create or edit a work center (see How to Create a Work Center).
- You can change it later: open the work center with the pencil (Edit), choose another type and click Save.
- Each card in Work Centers shows the type, and the filter Type above the list offers the four types.
A person as a work center
Section titled “A person as a work center”A work center of type Human normally stands for a user of the platform. That link is kept on the work center, but the work center form has no field for it in this version — it can only be set through the API (linkedUserId).
